Group and NT

Hello Ladies,

Just wanted to give you a progress report on my group and NT principles.  We have a core group now of 6, who have decided to give this way of eating a concerted effort.  Most are a little older and have been down the diet rabbit trail for many years and have regained their weight several times.  Two dropped out when they realized it wasn’t a quick fix/diet group.  We are using another book as well, which dovetails nicely with Jean’s books.  I am encouraging everyone to look at healing their bodies incrementally, which means that it has to be done in stages or phases.  The first phase would be to begin eating more, during the day, preferably in the morning, eating good, whole foods, trying to stop eating at 5:30 or 6 p.m. and stop trying to lose weight, at first.  This is scary to some, me included at times, because it seems as though one will just keep gaining and gaining until one floats away as a big hot air balloon. I still have to keep reminding myself that my metabolism will eventually rev up and I will begin to lose weight, if I do my part and not diet or famine my body.  I’m often tempted to eat just vegetables, protein, etc. and leave off all flour products, fats, etc., which helped me to lose before, but I was still binging, when I ate that way.  Although I did lose weight I never healed and continued to binge.  I guess my body thought I was still famining it because it never stopped needing to binge on high fat/sugar foods.  I was never satisfied.  Now I feel satisfied after I eat.  I am praying that God will continue to give me grace to eat what is best for my body, but I don’t always eat whole foods.  I would say I’m eating whole real food about 90-95 per cent of the time, which is a great thing, and I’m not binging anymore.  If fact, as soon as I started using NT principles, the binges stopped for the most part.

I’m having a little bit of difficulty seeing those 8 lbs. on my abdomen but I keep telling myself it is only temporary.  That is comforting.  I refuse to ever diet to restrict again.  In fact God has shown me that would be wrong for me to do again, since I now have the information I have learned from NT.

Thanks to all, and I’ll keep you posted about my progress and how our group is going.

God bless,

Gratefull

Be careful with dove tailing anything with NT. It may seem the same, but usually isn’t.

What finally got me hooked on NT was my body refusing to let myself go hungry for any extended period of time.  Knowing that, it seemed the only sensible option was NT.

Yes, it is VERY difficult with the weight gain part.  For me added health issues have surfaced as a result of the weight gain.  But I am trying to trust my body to do it’s thing, knowing in the long run it’s the only way to go!

Good luck with your group!

Hi Munch,

How long have you been doing NT?

I’ve known about NT since 1999 when I first read your NT book. I’ve been actively applying the principles since September 2009.

Since your last advice I’m trying really hard to eat three meals earlier in the day.  One within 30 minutes of waking, another one when I get hungry, usually about 10-ish and then lunch a little later - around 1:00.  I try to make my last meal before 6:00 p.m.  If I’m not too hungry when I go to bed around 9:30 p.m., I just go to bed.  If I’m fairly hungry I have some fruit or a glass or milk.  That seems to be enough, but not too much.

Dear Gratefull,

So far, I have never heard of anyone having success by integrating another approach with Naturally Thin.  Many have tried it because they believe they can improve the Naturally Thin program—by speeding it up, to be specific.  The body cannot be fooled and weight rebound is still at 98% for those who try to ignore the principles of adaptation.
