My Scales Died on the Weekend

My electonic scale that runs on batteries died this weekend….so, I won’t be replacing them anytime soon.  We’ll see how long my husband can go without weighing himself.  He was like me, weighing practically every morning.  It’s been kind of freeing, knowing that I can’t weigh myself.  If he complains too much, I’ll replace them; but I’m going to try not to weigh myself.

Too funny!  My scale died a few weeks ago - dead batteries as well.  I limit myself to a once per month weigh in.  More than that just puts me on a roller coaster…

This morning my husband opened up the back and said “it takes 4 AA’s”, so I guess that’s a sign he wants it to work again!  It didn’t take him long to miss it.  One of the batteries leaked so it may not ever work again, but I’ll clean it up and see.  Mine is the kind that tells you body fat %.  Like, what was I thinking when I bought that model!?

HA! Sindy you were thinking the same thing we all thought when we bought our scales.  I threw mine out a couple of weeks ago and I’m glad I did.  At this point is will be nothing but discouragment for me: I know I’ve gained, my clothes are definitely tighter-BUT, my dieting days are dying! I’ve always placed too much emphasis on my weight & the scale.

I’m looking forward to good things!

Sindy,

Good news!  A bathroom scale can’t accurately tell bodyfat percentage. So, nevermind.  It is so freeing to get away from that Diet god and if you do, it will help you to stay in touch with your body’s real needs.

Sincerely,
Jean

My 19 year old daughter began NT the same time I did, and has not weighed herself once since then!  Being her own flesh & blood I can’t believe she isn’t the tiniest bit curious, but she just doesn’t need the scale in her life.  She has gone to the doctor a time or two since then and when they weigh her she tries to whistle, plug her ears, look at the ceiling (any distracting measure she can take!)  and they take note and don’t say her weight out loud.
