You’re my hero

I scratch my head at how none of the other “health” authors thought and wrote of these NT prescriptions before you. I grew up in a family that worked in the medical and science fields, so when you talked about adaptations, it all came back to me. Eat when your hungry, eat until your full, eat quality foods… I feel as if you have given all who have read any or all of your books and are following the NT prescriptions, this secret that only we know about. I know this my sound strange, but Jean you’re my hero.

BJ, I share your thoughts.  Jean’s my hero too.  I think of all the diet programs that became popular in my lifetime.  They all hit their peak of success, and then fell by the wayside, in that big diet cemetery where all diets end up, because they don’t continue to work.  I just shrug when I hear of a new one, and feel sad too that so many people are being taken in by diets that may be packaged differently, yet all have the same result: if you do lose weight, it’s temporary, and then you gain it all back, and usually a little more.  Diets welcome you to life on the feast or famine cycle.

Then there’s Jean’s program.  The Anti-Diet.  Written decades ago and it has withstood the test of time.  And Jean’s Naturally Thin Program never has to be updated.  Jean never has to say that new studies have been done so she’s changing this or that about the basic premises of the program.  There’s no reason for that.  Once you begin eating quality food according to hunger cues and stop when full, that’s all you need to do. The laws of adaption are not going to change. This is the way you can live the rest of your life and never have to waste a second more of your precious time on a diet.  What a gift!!!

I completely agree!  I have followed the NT principles for 10 years now.  People are always amazed at how much I eat.  They think, “You are just lucky, If I ate like you I would weigh 300 pounds!”.  It is so hard to get people to understand that these principles actually work!!! (My entire extended family is struggling with problem eating and overweight)  I have given up trying to explain the NT process because nobody believes me.  I guess I can only enjoy my own recovery and hope that my actions will influence my children so they can avoid a lifetime of problem eating.
